Privacy Policy — Unburdly
Last updated: 29 May 2026
Our Promise
At Unburdly, your privacy and emotional safety matter deeply. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and what we never do. We built Unburdly with privacy as the foundation — not an afterthought.
1. What We Collect
Unburdly is designed to require as little information as possible.
Information You Voluntarily Provide
- Conversation messages: What you type during a chat session. You control exactly what you share.
- Mood & topic selection: Optional choices you make before starting (e.g., "anxious," "relationships") to help match you with the right listener.
- Payment information: Only if you choose to continue after the free trial. We do not store card details — payments are processed through secure third-party providers (Razorpay/Stripe).
- Email (optional): Only if you provide it for refund requests, support tickets, or voluntary updates. Not required to use the service.
Information Collected Automatically
- Session metadata: Randomly generated session ID, start/end timestamps, and listener assignment ID. No personal identifiers.
- Device & browser: Browser type, operating system, and screen size (for technical optimization only).
- IP address: Temporarily logged for fraud prevention and abuse detection. Hashed and deleted after 30 days.
What We Do NOT Collect
- ❌ Real name
- ❌ Phone number
- ❌ Email address (unless you voluntarily provide it)
- ❌ Location / GPS data
- ❌ Social media profiles
- ❌ Photos or identity documents from users
2. How Conversations Work
Unburdly conversations take place through our secure web-based chat platform. We do not use WhatsApp, Instagram, or any third-party messaging apps for sessions.
Our No-Storage Architecture
- Chat messages exist only in temporary encrypted memory during the active session
- When the session ends, messages are permanently deleted from our servers
- We do not store conversation history in any database, backup, or log file
- Even our technical team cannot retrieve past conversations
Important exception: If you report a listener for misconduct, we retain the specific session metadata (timestamps, listener ID, report details) for up to 90 days to conduct our investigation. Message content is still not stored — only the fact that a report occurred and the outcome.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used only for these specific purposes:
| Purpose | What We Use | How Long |
| Provide emotional support | Live chat messages only | Deleted when session ends |
| Match with listeners | Mood/topic preferences (optional) | Session duration only |
| Process payments | Payment confirmation from provider | 7 years (tax compliance) |
| Handle reports | Session metadata, report details | 90 days after resolution |
| Fraud prevention | Hashed IP address | 30 days |
| Service improvement | Aggregated, anonymized usage stats | Indefinitely (no personal data) |
4. What We Never Do
- ❌ Sell your data. We do not sell, rent, trade, or monetize your personal information or conversations.
- ❌ Share with advertisers. No ad networks, no tracking pixels for marketing, no behavioral profiling.
- ❌ Use chats for AI training. Your conversations are never used to train machine learning models.
- ❌ Publish or quote chats. We do not use your conversation content for testimonials, marketing, or public posts without explicit written permission.
- ❌ Link sessions to identity. Even internally, we cannot connect a past session to a specific person.
5. Confidentiality & Legal Exceptions
All conversations are treated as private and confidential. However, we may disclose information in these limited circumstances:
- Required by law: If we receive a valid court order, subpoena, or legal process requiring disclosure.
- Imminent danger: If we have credible information suggesting imminent harm to you or others, we may share relevant details with emergency services. Given our no-storage architecture, this is extremely limited.
- Platform abuse: If you violate our Terms (harassment, threats, illegal activity), we may share relevant metadata with law enforcement if required.
6. Payments & Financial Data
- Payments are optional and only required if you choose to continue after the 10-minute free trial
- We do not store credit card numbers, CVV codes, or bank account details on our servers
- All payments are processed through PCI-DSS compliant third-party providers (Razorpay/Stripe)
- We receive only: transaction confirmation, amount, timestamp, and anonymized user reference — never your full card details
- Payment records are retained for 7 years for tax and accounting compliance
7. Cookies & Tracking
- We use essential cookies only: session management, fraud prevention, and basic analytics
- We do not use tracking cookies for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site profiling
- We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar third-party trackers
- You can disable cookies in your browser, though this may affect session stability
8. Your Rights & Control
You have full control over your experience:
- Start or stop anytime: End conversations, close the browser, or leave without explanation
- Choose what you share: Share as much or as little as you want. You can say "I don't want to talk about that" at any time
- Block listeners: Any listener can be blocked permanently with one click
- Request data deletion: Since we don't store conversations, there's typically nothing to delete. But if you provided an email or payment info, email us to request deletion
- Opt out of communications: If you provided an email, you can unsubscribe from updates anytime
9. Data Security
- All data transmission uses TLS 1.3 encryption
- Our servers are hosted on secure cloud infrastructure with regular security audits
- Access to any retained data is restricted to authorized personnel only
- In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify affected users within 72 hours as required by law
10. Children's Privacy
- Unburdly is intended for users 15 years and older
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 15
- If we discover we have collected data from a child under 15, we will delete it immediately
