Welcome to Unburdly

By accessing or using our services, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Nature of the Service

Unburdly provides peer emotional support through compassionate listening from trained human volunteers.

Specifically, Unburdly is not:

  • Therapy, counseling, or psychotherapy
  • Medical, psychiatric, or psychological treatment
  • A source of diagnoses, clinical advice, or treatment plans
  • An emergency or crisis intervention service
  • A replacement for professional mental health care

If you require professional mental health care or are in immediate danger, please contact a qualified professional or use the crisis resources listed in our Safety Framework.

2. Eligibility

By using Unburdly, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 15 years old
  • You understand the nature and limits of peer emotional support services
  • You are voluntarily choosing to engage in conversations
  • You have read and understood our Safety Framework and Listener Code of Conduct

3. How the Service Works

  • Conversations take place through Unburdly's secure web-based chat platform
  • You are not required to share your real name, email, phone number, or any personal identity
  • You choose what information to share and how much to say
  • Conversations are text-based and paced entirely by you
  • Your first 10 minutes are free. Payment is only required if you choose to continue beyond the trial
  • Unburdly may introduce new features or platforms in the future. Changes will be communicated via this page

4. Free Trial & Payments

  • Every new user receives 10 minutes of free conversation time to experience the service before any payment
  • You may ask questions and understand how the service works during the free trial
  • Payment details are shared only if you choose to continue after the free trial
  • All prices are clearly displayed before any charge is made
  • Once a paid session begins, the service is considered active and non-refundable
  • Session packs (3-session, 7-session) can be used across multiple conversations and do not expire
  • Unburdly reserves the right to update pricing at any time, with changes applying only to future purchases

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for illegal purposes
  • Harass, threaten, abuse, or manipulate listeners
  • Share content that promotes violence, self-harm, or harm to others
  • Attempt to extract personal information from listeners (names, locations, contact details)
  • Attempt to misuse, exploit, or reverse-engineer the service
  • Use automated systems, bots, or scripts to interact with the platform

Unburdly reserves the right to pause, terminate, or permanently ban any user who violates these terms. No refund will be provided for terminated accounts.

6. Anonymity & Privacy

  • Unburdly operates on a privacy-first architecture. See our Privacy Policy for full details
  • Conversations are not permanently stored. Chat history is deleted when the session ends
  • We do not sell, share, or monetize your conversation data
  • While we protect your anonymity, we may take necessary action if required by law or if there is a serious concern for safety or harm

7. Listener Relationship

  • Listeners are trained volunteers, not employees or contractors of Unburdly
  • All listeners have agreed to our Listener Code of Conduct
  • Unburdly does not guarantee the availability of any specific listener
  • You may block any listener at any time. Blocked listeners will never be matched with you again

8. Report & Safety

  • If you experience inappropriate behavior, you may report the listener immediately through the chat interface
  • All reports are reviewed within 24 hours
  • Validated reports result in listener suspension or permanent removal

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Unburdly is not liable for:

  • Decisions you make based on conversations
  • Emotional outcomes, interpretations, or reactions
  • Technical issues, downtime, or service interruptions
  • Actions or omissions by individual listeners
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Your use of the service is at your own risk.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Unburdly, its operators, volunteers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these terms.

11. Changes to Terms

  • These Terms may be updated from time to time
  • Material changes will be communicated via email (if provided) or a prominent notice on the website
  • Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms
  • The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra.
